Crowns & Bridges from McCalla Dental

Crowns by Birminham Dentist Dr. Gray

Dr. Gray will make certain that your crowns and bridges are just right for your smile.

Sometimes more than a filling is needed to repair a tooth. If a tooth is severely decayed, broken or missing, you may require a crown or dental bridge to repair it.

The McCalla Dental dentists have crafted and placed hundreds of dental crowns and bridges. You can be certain that with four highly trained and experienced dentists to choose from, you will get the exact dental care that is right for you. Dr. Holt Gray, our resident expert in dental reconstruction and tooth restoration, will make sure that if you need a crown or a bridge, it is extremely durable, fits perfectly, gives you a very comfortable bite, and is color-matched to look and feel like your natural tooth.

Beautiful, permanent crowns can transform your smile

"When the time came to have my front two upper teeth restored with crowns, I trusted Dr. Gray to provide not only a highly esthetic result, but also one compatible with oral health." Matthew Litz, D.M.D., Periodontist

Crowns fully cover your natural tooth, after it has suffered from significant damage or decay. Because the are large and often a very visible part of your smile, we work hard to provide you with crowns that enhance your smile, and look and feel like your natural tooth.

Your permanent, natural-looking crowns are made precisely for you, to our exact specification, of the highest quality materials, at the Gray Dental Laboratory here in Birmingham. Gray Dental Laboratory was established by Dr. Holt Gray's father, and has been providing quality dental restoration products for more than three decades.

Why do I need a crown?

You may need a crown because of:

  • Broken or cracked teeth
  • Extensive tooth decay
  • A tooth that has had root canal therapy
  • Large metal or tooth-colored fillings that weaken the remaining tooth
  • Teeth that have large fillings that are breaking down and cannot be refilled
  • A permanently stained or discolored tooth
  • A misaligned or misshaped tooth

Sometimes a crown is not the optimum solution and other dental procedures such as porcelain veneers or dental implants are more appropriate.

Comfortable, durable dental bridges

"One particular procedure comes to mind when I think 'perfection': my bridge procedure. The end result was wonderful." – Michael Keeton

Dental Bridge in Bessemer

Bridges are used to fill gaps left when teeth are missing due to injury or extraction. If you need a bridge, we will have it constructed precisely for you, to our exact specification, of the highest quality materials, at the Gray Dental Laboratory here in Birmingham. Gray Dental Laboratory was established by Dr. Holt Gray's father, and has been providing quality dental restoration products for more than three decades.

Why do I need a Bridge?

It is important to fill gaps between teeth, and a bridge is one of the simplest ways to accomplish that. If you have even one missing tooth, your other teeth may slowly shift out of place, which changes the way your teeth fit together. Your jaw may hurt from a poor bite, and your teeth may become harder to clean which can lead to tooth decay and gum disease. Additionally, a missing tooth may make you self-conscious about your smile.

Is a Bridge the best option?

In many cases, a dental implant is preferable to a bridge when you have missing teeth. An implant can help you preserve the bone in your jaw as well as your bite, and will look and feel completely natural.  Come in for a complimentary consultation with Dr. Gray and discuss the options that would work best for you.

After many years of missing teeth, the bone and gums shrink where the empty space remains. Here, it was necessary to add pink porcelain that resembled gums to the patient's new bridge in order to avoid excessively long teeth.

"McCalla Dental has changed my smile.

"I came to McCalla dental in hopes of finding a dentist that would change my attitude about dentistry altogether. Other dentists' offices have treated me like a customer; McCalla Dental has treated me like family.

"One particular procedure comes to mind when I think 'perfection': my bridge procedure. The end result was wonderful.

"I have recommended McCalla Dental to my family and friends. Now I want to especially invite you. Take the chance, use this opportunity like I did, and go home knowing you can smile tomorrow."

– Michael Keeton

Patient of Bessemer Dentist Dr. Gray

"As a dental professional, having a great smile is not only an important attribute that we strive to provide to our patients, but also to display ourselves. When the time came to have my front two upper teeth restored with crowns, I trusted Dr. Gray to provide not only a highly esthetic result, but also one compatible with oral health. My entire personal dental experience at McCalla Dental was very positive and one that I seek to model my own periodontal practice after.

"I do not give recommendations or positive testimonials lightly, but have no hesitation to provide it here. I regularly refer patients to McCalla Dental, referred myself, and will continue to be a patient for my own future dental needs."

– Matthew Litz, D.M.D., Periodontist

crowns by Bessemer's McCalla Dental

"Growing up, I was always ashamed of my teeth. As a young pre-teen, I damaged my front teeth in an accident, which caused them to darken. When I had the urge to smile, I did it in a way to hide my teeth as much as possible.

"As I grew older, I had a few crowns put on my front teeth, but they were put on at different times and were never the same color. They were also beginning to pull away from my gums and metal was starting to show at the top of my crowns. This caused me to start hiding my smile again.

"About 2 years ago, I started going to McCalla Dental. They helped me work out a plan to replace my existing crowns with all porcelain crowns. They are perfect, and I'm smiling so much these days, my face sometimes hurts. McCalla Dental helped me smile again!

"I am so glad McCalla Dental is part of my life now."

– Teresa Posey
